Deshaun Watson reacts to clutch play to get into 1st place

Deshaun Watson reflects on Cleveland’s ugly win over Baltimore as the Browns climb to 4–2 and take sole control of the AFC North.

Deshaun Watson knows the Cleveland Browns’ offense has plenty to clean up. Their latest victory, though, proves that clutch execution can make all the difference. Despite taking five sacks and enduring another frustrating afternoon offensively, Watson delivered when it mattered most against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. With less than a minute remaining and the score tied 10-10, the Browns quarterback stood firm in the pocket. He fired a 33-yard strike to Jerry Jeudy. That set up Andre Szmyt’s walk-off 37-yard field goal for a 13-10 win. The victory lifted Cleveland to 4-2 and possession of first place in the AFC North.

Watson acknowledged the growing pains after the game. He emphasized that early-season mistakes can become valuable lessons before the stakes rise in November and December.

“This is when you wanna work out the kinks is early in the season,” Watson said, via Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram. “By the time we get to November, December, that’s when you really gotta lock in and you can’t make those mistakes. You gotta be as consistent as possible.”

Watson also stressed that Cleveland must build on its divisional wins over Pittsburgh and Baltimore. They know those opponents will get another shot later in the season.

“And that’s when we gotta be at our best,” he added.

Watson’s 2026 campaign has seen persistent protection issues and inconsistent offensive production. He has absorbed 26 sacks through six games. That includes 13 over the last two weeks. Still, he has repeatedly delivered in critical late-game situations. The Browns surely still need cleaner execution. However, at 4-2, Watson and Cleveland have something more valuable than a pretty box score: first place and time to improve.
