At a time when a male lead is often expected to be loud, aggressive and larger than life, Rishikanth is making room for something different. A man who stands up for his wife. An actor unafraid to share an on-screen kiss with his trans friend. A performer who understands that masculinity need not be measured by dominance, and that tenderness does not make a man any less of a hero.
For his first lead film, he could have taken the safer route. Instead, he chose a story that challenged familiar ideas of heroism. And in doing so, he is expanding what a hero can look like for an entire generation.
