Red Bull will be the title sponsor of the first Adelaide MotoGP Grand Prix, under a two-year deal that puts one of the world’s most recognisable brands behind the state’s newest major event.
The inaugural race will be known as the Red Bull Grand Prix of Australia – Adelaide 2027 and runs from November 12 to 14, 2027.
The agreement is between Red Bull, MotoGP and the South Australian Motor Sport Board, and is intended to make the Adelaide round a flagship event on the MotoGP Championship.
It will also be the first MotoGP race held on a city circuit, and the first event on the $96 million Adelaide Street Circuit. The 4.13-kilometre layout has 15 corners, and the bikes are expected to top 340km/h.
Adelaide will host the penultimate round of the 2027 MotoGP season, with championship battles expected to be reaching their climax by then.
“Red Bull is one of the most recognisable brands in the world, and having them on board as the title sponsor of Adelaide’s first MotoGP Grand Prix is a huge endorsement for this event and a massive coup for South Australia,” Premier Peter Malinauskas said.
“This is exactly the kind of global partnership we want to attract. One that brings enormous international exposure, creates excitement and helps establish Adelaide as a must-visit destination on the MotoGP calendar.”
Together, the MotoGP and Supercars events are anticipated to deliver a combined economic return of more than $200 million a year.
“Major international events like the MotoGP attract motorsport fans from around the world as well as serious international investors,” Chris Picton said.
“From our incredible food and wine to business opportunities and tourism experiences, this event presents a huge opportunity to drive economic activity and support local businesses.”
The State Government says the race will be watched by a MotoGP audience of more than 630 million people worldwide, putting the state’s food, wine, tourism and major events on show.
Red Bull and MotoGP also plan fan experiences, premium entertainment and city-wide activations during race week, which means branded events and promotions staged well beyond the circuit itself.
MotoGP Deputy CEO Carlos Ezpeleta said, “We’re really excited to be coming to Adelaide very soon and incredibly happy to be announcing such an iconic global brand such as Red Bull to partner with for this first ever Adelaide MotoGP event.”
“It’s not only about the race, it’s also about all the other activations, and Red Bull bringing those to life is an incredible opportunity for us.”
The proposed circuit design was worked through with the South Australian Motor Sport Board, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, Motorcycling Australia, MotoGP and Supercars Australia. MotoGP safety advisor Loris Capirossi, a former 125cc and 250cc world champion, and five-time Supercars champion Mark Skaife also provided specialist input.
Red Bull’s title sponsorship covers two years, so the brand will stay with the event when it returns to Adelaide in 2028.
