It’s official! After 17 years away from the touring stage, Australian rock favourites Powderfinger are heading back on the road, and Adelaide is getting two massive shows as part of their long-awaited reunion.

The legendary five-piece will take over Ellis Park on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 October 2027, performing beneath a stadium-sized big top in a concert experience unlike their previous tours.

Rather than returning to traditional arenas, Powderfinger are creating a travelling music event combining live performances, Australian support acts, food and drinks, and thousands of fans coming together to hear the songs that defined a generation.

And with hits including My Happiness, These Days, Sunsets, On My Mind and Pick You Up, there will be no shortage of crowd singalongs.

The announcement marks the band’s first national tour since their Sunsets Farewell Tour in 2010, which attracted more than 300,000 fans before their final performance on 13 November that year.

Now, Bernard Fanning, Darren Middleton, Ian Haug, Jon Coghill and John ‘JC’ Collins are reuniting for an 18-show Australian tour, taking in Brisbane, Cairns, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

“We are absolutely ecstatic to be coming together to play again,” the band shared in their announcement.

They explained that while there had been countless suggestions to reunite over the years, the timing had never quite worked for everyone until now.

The decision is also about introducing their music to a new generation, including fans who were too young to experience their concerts the first time around and even their own children.

For those who grew up with Powderfinger providing the soundtrack to road trips, nights out and everything in between, the reunion offers a rare opportunity to revisit those memories in person.

The band has also committed to showcasing Australian music throughout the tour, with a rotating lineup of established and emerging homegrown artists joining them in each city. Support acts will be announced during AusMusic Month in November.

Beyond the music, Powderfinger will partner with Mission Australia to raise funds and awareness for people experiencing homelessness and other forms of hardship, with further details to be revealed.

Adelaide tickets will be available through several presales before the general public release.

The Artist and Telstra presales open on Wednesday 14 October 2026 at 1pm ACDT, followed by the Live Nation presale on Friday 16 October at 2pm ACDT. General public tickets go on sale on Monday 19 October at 1pm ACDT.

Fans wanting access to the Artist Presale can register for Powderfinger’s Official Fan Club at powderfinger.com and verify their email address. Presale access does not guarantee tickets, with allocations subject to availability.

Both Adelaide concerts will be all-ages events, with seated and standing ticket options. Anyone under 18 must attend with a ticket-holding responsible adult.

For Adelaide music lovers who thought they’d said their final goodbye to Powderfinger back in 2010, October 2027 is shaping up to be something special.
