Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has declined a request to meet INDIA bloc leaders ahead of their planned march to the Supreme Court over alleged “vote chori”, sources associated with his office said.
The sources said the issues the Opposition wanted to raise were already pending before the court, making such a meeting inappropriate.
They added that the Supreme Court could not intervene in the government’s functioning through its administrative role. The leaders were told they could seek protection of their fundamental rights by approaching the court through the judicial process.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
