A Nantucket man won a $500,000 Massachusetts State Lottery prize on a scratch ticket purchased at a diner that has yielded several other big winners in recent years.

Dipak Thapa won the top prize in the lottery’s “$500,000 Frenzy” scratch ticket game after buying the ticket at Old South Diner in Nantucket, according to lottery officials.

Thapa chose the cash option, receiving a one-time payment of $355,000 before taxes. He plans to save and invest the winnings, the lottery said.

The latest prize adds to a string of big wins associated with the Nantucket establishment. In March, the store sold two $2 million winning tickets — one for Powerball and another for the lottery’s “$2,000,000 Stacked” scratch ticket.

The restaurant has also sold several other million-dollar prizes in 2024. In March of that year, a “$4,000,000 Bonus Bucks” scratch ticket worth $1 million was sold there. A $2 million prize from the “Lifetime Millions” game followed in June, and a $1 million prize from the “$10,000,000 Bonanza” game was sold there in August.

Old South Diner will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling Thapa’s winning ticket, the lottery said.
