Australians will be dreaming even bigger next week, with the Powerball jackpot soaring to a staggering $100 million after Thursday night’s prize went unclaimed.
Powerball draw 1587 on Thursday, October 15th will offer the biggest prize seen in any Australian lottery game in more than 16 months.
The jackpot climbed after no player matched all seven winning numbers and the all-important Powerball needed to claim division one in the $60 million draw on October 8th.
It marks five consecutive Powerball draws without a division one winner.
If one player takes home the entire $100 million prize next Thursday, they will share the title of Australia’s third-biggest lottery winner ever.
The last time Powerball reached $100 million was in June 2025, and The Lott expects the latest jackpot to generate huge interest, with up to half of Australian adults predicted to have an entry.
The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said, “I’m sure plenty of Aussies will be vying for the chance to become a multi-millionaire in next week’s $100 million Powerball draw. In fact, we expect up to half of Australian adults to have an entry into next Thursday’s draw.
“To give you an idea of the excitement these jackpots generate, the last time Powerball offered a $100 million prize, in June 2025, the peak of sales was at 6:27pm on the day of the draw when 8,315 tickets were sold in a single minute.”
While nobody claimed division one on Thursday night, there were still more than 1.66 million winning entries across divisions two to nine, sharing more than $37.2 million.
Five division two winners each collected $206,779.40.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1586 were 20, 15, 7, 8, 10, 19 and 12, with Powerball number 7.
Entries for the $100 million draw close at 7:30pm AEST on Thursday, October 15th and can be purchased through licensed lottery outlets, The Lott website or app.
