History could be made next week after Powerball jackpotted to $100m, the most lucrative prize of any lottery game in more than a year.
More than half of all Australian adults are tipped to enter the race for the massive cash windfall on October 15 (draw 1587), after the division one prize went unclaimed for a fifth straight week on Thursday night.
If a single player pockets the entire $100m, they will share the title for the country’s third largest lottery win ever.

“We expect up to half of Australian adults to have an entry into next Thursday’s draw,” The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said.
“To give you an idea of the excitement these jackpots generate, the last time Powerball offered a $100 million prize, in June 2025, the peak of sales was at 6.27pm on the day of the draw when 8315 tickets were sold in a single minute.”
Despite no one claiming the jackpot in Thursday’s October 8 draw, there were five division two winners who pocketed more than $200,000 each.
The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1586 are: 20, 15, 7, 8, 10, 19 and 12. The Powerball is 7.
But attention has already turned to next week.
“Just imagine the endless possibilities with a multimillion-dollar Powerball prize in your back pocket,” Hart said.
“Whether it’s jet-setting around the globe, building your dream home, or setting your family up for generations to come, someone’s dreams could become a reality.”
