If Japan or South Korea has been sitting pretty on your travel wishlist, this could be the excuse to finally book it.
Jetstar has brought back its popular Return for FREE sale, releasing 14,000 $0 return fares to Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul.
The deal is pretty simple, book an eligible outbound Starter fare to Tokyo (Narita), Osaka (Kansai) or Seoul (Incheon) and selected return Starter fares will cost you absolutely nothing.
Some of the headline fares include Cairns to Osaka from $449, Brisbane to Seoul from $469, Cairns to Tokyo from $479 and Sydney to Osaka from $569, with the return leg included for $0 on eligible dates.
It’s worth noting for South Australians that Adelaide is not among the departure cities specifically listed in Jetstar’s published sale examples, so travellers may need to factor in a connecting domestic flight depending on the fare and itinerary they choose.
The sale covers selected travel dates between May and July 2027, giving travellers the chance to head north during Australia’s cooler months.
Whether that means eating your way through Osaka, disappearing into Tokyo’s endless neighbourhoods or spending a week jumping between markets, palaces and late-night food spots in Seoul, there are plenty of ways to make the most of it.
Jetstar Executive Manager Customer and Digital Prue McKenzie said Japan and South Korea remain among the airline’s most popular international destinations.
“Japan and South Korea are two of our customers’ most-loved international holiday spots, and with the return flight free, travellers can make their holiday go a lot further.”
There are a few catches to keep in mind before getting too excited.
The $0 return fares are only available on selected flights and dates, and both the outbound and return flight need to be booked together from and to the same departure port. Checked baggage is not included. For Jetstar Airways flights departing after February 2, 2027, the Starter fare includes one underseat carry-on bag, with Priority Carry-on available to purchase subject to availability.
The public sale is already underway and finishes at 11.59pm AEDT on Friday, October 9, unless the discounted seats sell out earlier.
With only 14,000 free return fares available nationally, anyone already mentally ordering ramen in Tokyo might want to move quickly.
