“Officers immediately commenced CPR on the driver; however, he died at the scene,” police said.
The man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged 45. No officers were injured during the shooting.
A crime scene has been established and a critical incident team from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad is expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
“The investigation will be the subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversighted by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission,” police said.
