A family farm in Maine has the best corn maze and pumpkin patch

A corn maze in Maine has amazed the nation once again.

USA Today released a list of the best corn mazes in America and the best pumpkin patches in America on Wednesday as part of its 2026 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards, and Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant, Maine, ranked No. 1 in both categories.

Treworgy has been named the best corn maze in America for five years in a row. The family farm, home to the longest continually running corn maze in the state, offers a four-acre maze made up of 60,000 10-foot tall corn plants.

“Each year’s maze begins with an idea for a design, and our whole family participates,” wrote officials on the farm’s website. “Once we have a theme, it’s time to plant. We plant the cornfield, carve out the pathways, create maps, and set up the ‘stations’ with riddles.”

When maze participants solve the riddles by following a special map and visiting different stations within the maze, they earn free ice cream from the farm’s cafe.

Treworgy has designed a new maze every year since 2001, when its first design was a giant piece of popcorn. This year, the farm’s design commemorates the 250th anniversary of America with a Statue of Liberty, eagle, liberty bell, the date “1776,” the number “250” surrounded by stars, and the letters “USA.” Visitors who reach the center can sign their names to a Hall of Fame Board.

There are also opportunities to experience the maze at night on Oct. 16-17 and Oct. 23-24, a family-friendly event that includes lighted hayrides and a campfire.

Guests can pick apples on the farm and also visit the award-winning pumpkin patch, comprised of eight miles of rows. The farm grows more than 60 varieties of pumpkins, squash, and gourds in various shapes, sizes, and colors. It takes 10 family members to plant nearly 20,000 pumpkin seeds, according to the farm website. The patch is best viewed from a hayride or horse-drawn farm tour, noted USA Today.

Farm officials posted the following on Facebook: “We are proud to announce for the fifth year in a row we are taking home first place (6 total first place wins, 3 second place wins). We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you for your support and all your votes.”

Another New England corn maze made the 10 best list: Davis Mega Maze in Sterling, Mass., ranked No. 6.

Three New England apple orchards also made USA Today‘s list of 10 best apple orchards in America. They are Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, Conn., which ranked No. 3; Red Apple Farm in Phillipston, Mass., which ranked No. 4; and Bishop’s Orchards in Guilford, Conn., which ranked No. 5. The No. 1 apple orchard is Beak and Skiff Apple Orchards in LaFayette, N.Y.
