Melbourne Victory have brought back former captain Angie Beard, with the 29-year-old defender returning to the club ahead of the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season.
Beard previously made 54 appearances for Victory and will reunite with Head Coach Jeff Hopkins, who guided the club to the 2021 Championship with Beard as captain.
The defender brings extensive experience to the Victory squad, having played in Scandinavia with Danish club Fortuna Hjørring and Swedish sides Linköping and AIK.

“It feels awesome to be back at Melbourne Victory; the players, staff and training environment here provides the perfect runway for the season ahead and into the Women’s World Cup next year.
“It is a place that means an awful lot to me and holds so many special memories. I am determined to create more of those this season and make everybody connected to the Club extremely proud.”
Beard also represented the Philippines at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and first joined Victory from Brisbane Roar in 2017, having begun her senior career with the Queensland club.
“Angie has enjoyed tremendous success at Melbourne Victory previously and returns to the Club with added experience but the same hunger and leadership which makes her such a force out on the pitch,” Melbourne Victory Hopkins said.
“I am looking forward to working with her again and seeing her flourish once more here in Melbourne and across the A-League battlegrounds.”
Beard’s arrival follows the re-signings of Claudia Bunge, Chelsea Blissett, Nicki Flannery, Courtney Newbon and Zoe McMeeken.
Victory kick off their 2026/27 Ninja A-League campaign with an away clash against Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday, October 17 at Wanderers Football Park.
