Man accused of filming kids at Frog Pond facing more than 60 new charges, officials say

Last month, a level 3 registered sex offender was arrested after allegedly using sunglasses with cameras in them to record children at the Frog Pond on Boston Common. Now, he is facing a slew of additional charges. 

Mark Sullivan, a 60-year-old Brockton resident, was set to be arraigned Tuesday in Boston Municipal Court on 69 additional charges relating to photographing sexual or intimate parts of a child, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden’s office said in a statement. The charges concerned “approximately 15” children between the ages of 2 and 8, prosecutors said. 

Sullivan has been in custody since Aug. 14 when he was ordered held on $250,000 bail. He was previously charged with one count of photographing sexual or intimate parts of a child. 

Sullivan appeared in court Tuesday. A prosecutor said that Sullivan had taken more than 40 different videos, around 26 or 28 of which were taken at the Frog Pond, per WCVB. 

Sullivan’s case was postponed until Friday, according to court records. 

During the initial incident in August, multiple witnesses told police that Sullivan was recording children in the Frog Pond playground and tried to record a family as they attempted to change their children’s clothes, police said. 

“When the family attempted to move due to the suspect’s behavior, he followed them, scanning the children up and down with the camera sunglasses,” police said in a release at the time.
