Guntur civic body publishes delimitation notification for 76 wards

The elections to the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) will be held based on 76 newly delimited wards, with the civic body publishing a preliminary notification outlining the boundaries of each ward. The notification, issued under Rule 8 of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporation (Delimitation of Wards) Rules, 1996, was released through Roc No.997422/2026/G1 dated September 5, 2026.

The delimitation follows the State government’s decision to increase the number of GMC wards from the existing 57 to 76. The increase was effected by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Department through G.O.Ms. No. 65 dated March 24, 2026, paving the way for elections to be conducted under the revised ward structure.

The preliminary notification provides detailed descriptions of the northern, eastern, southern and western boundaries of all 76 wards, using roads, railway tracks, survey numbers, junctions, landmarks and municipal limits as reference points.

The GMC has invited residents to submit suggestions or objections, if any, to the Commissioner within seven days from the date of publication of the notification. The exercise is part of the statutory process preceding finalisation of the ward boundaries and conduct of the forthcoming civic elections.
