Former Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya has alleged that he was lured to northeast Delhi’s Jaffrabad on the pretext of recording a podcast, only to be confronted by a group of men over his social media videos on Hinduism and Hindu Gods. He alleged that the men threatened to “cut him into several pieces” and chased him to Jaffrabad Metro station.
Dahiya told India Today Digital that the incident took place on August 31 and that he filed a police complaint the same day, alleging wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement and threats to his life. He also said he approached the police seeking security for himself and his family.
“A person identifying himself as Rohit first contacted me on WhatsApp on August 5. He introduced himself as being from the team of one Prince Gaur and invited me for a podcast,” Dahiya told India Today Digital.
Dahiya said the WhatsApp display picture of the person showed an Instagram handle, “@Jagatdambrader4”, along with a Facebook link identifying the person as Prince A Gaur. When Dahiya asked about the exact Instagram and YouTube channels associated with the podcast, he was allegedly sent links to an Instagram account named “MJ Mukeshjain”, and a YouTube channel called “Shallu Nisha Podcast”.
“The same person was seen in those videos and also appeared as MJ Mukesh Jain,” Dahiya told India Today Digital, adding that he eventually agreed to the podcast invitation after being repeatedly contacted over several days. “This is like a regular drill for me, people keep contacting me for podcasts and I do attend them,” he said.
On August 31, Dahiya said he agreed to meet the person after being offered a pick-and-drop arrangement. A cab arrived at Dahiya’s residence around 3 pm and took him to Jaffrabad’s DDA Colony, where he arrived at around 4 pm.
Dahiya said Rohit, who he described as a member of Prince Gaur’s team, met him there, paid the cab driver and told him that they had to wait at a nearby park because “Sir” was about to arrive.
CONFRONTED UPON ARRIVAL FOR PODCAST RECORDING: DAHIYA
Dahiya alleged that one of the people who called him for a podcast started a confrontation over his social media content.
“Tu hindu devtaon ko apne Instagram pe kyun gali deta hai?” (“Why do you abuse Hindu Gods on Instagram”) Dahiya alleged that Rohit confronted him aggressively.
Dahiya said he responded that he had not abused anyone and was only trying to promote rational thinking. He alleged that when he tried to leave, Rohit grabbed his hand and forced him to sit down. “I have never abused Hindu Gods, and I have only spoken about the reforms that are needed in the religion,” Dahiya told India Today Digital.
“He [Prince Gaur’s team member] said, ‘You are trapped today. Our people are coming soon. Wait…’,” Dahiya was told by one of the people he met in Jaffrabad.
The 38-year-old activist alleged that he managed to free his hand and ran towards an e-rickshaw before asking for help from a person on a scooter. However, he claimed Rohit followed him, asked the person to leave and then allegedly grabbed him by the collar. “He held me by the collar and said, ‘We will cut you into several pieces’,” Dahiya alleged.
Dahiya said he eventually found an auto-rickshaw and asked the driver to take him to the nearest metro station. According to his account, Rohit got into the auto with him, held his hand and attempted to direct the driver. Dahiya also alleged that the same three people on a scooter followed the auto.
The auto driver eventually took them to Jaffrabad Metro station, where Dahiya said he again managed to free himself and move towards the crowded station entrance. The alleged threats, however, did not stop there.
Dahiya said he received repeated WhatsApp messages after reaching the metro. The former CJP spokesperson shared the alleged voice notes with India Today Digital.
He also alleged that two missed calls from the same number appeared under the name “Prince” on the caller ID.
VIJETA DAHIYA HAS FILED POLICE COMPLAINT OVER ALLEGED THREATS
Dahiya has submitted a police complaint at Begampur Police Station, and he has named Rohit, Prince Gaur, Mukesh Jain and unknown persons in his complaint, but has also made it clear that he does not know whether Rohit acted in connivance with the named individuals.
“I don’t know whether his real name is Rohit or something else. However, I can identify him,”Dahiya said.
He also alleged that he did not know whether the accused had acted in coordination with Prince Gaur, Mukesh Jain or Shallu Nisha, or whether identities had been forged or misused.
No FIR has been registered so far, according to Dahiya. An officer from Begampur Police Station told Dahiya that the complaint had been forwarded to the Jaffrabad Police Station for investigation.
Dahiya has sought investigation into the allegations and action against Rohit and his alleged accomplices under relevant provisions of law.
