A massive flood surge from Nepal reached Bihar. 🌊 After catastrophic flooding in Nepal sent a huge surge through the Trishuli and Narayani rivers, the water flowed into the Gandak River and reached Bihar. At Valmikinagar, engineers opened all 36 gates of the 60-year-old Gandak Barrage, releasing nearly 1.5 lakh cusecs of water in a controlled manner to manage the sudden surge.
The barrage became a crucial part of the effort to manage the rising Gandak River floodwaters. But downstream villages still faced flooding and evacuations, highlighting just how powerful and unpredictable extreme flood events can be.
