Festival of Festivals coming to Cherry Street Pier Sept. 27

Philadelphia’s cultural traditions will come together at Cherry Street Pier during Festival of Festivals on Sunday, Sept. 27. The free, family-friendly event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature food, music, art and activities focused on family history.

DiasporaDNA Story Center created the festival to spotlight the artists, organizations and communities behind the city’s cultural celebrations. Attendees can watch live performances, browse goods from local vendors and artisans and try food connected to different cultures.

The entertainment will include drill teams, a step show, drumming, dancing and DJs. Games and prizes also will be offered throughout the afternoon.

Family-history activities will give attendees a chance to research their ancestry, create a family-tree collage and learn how to preserve photographs and personal records. Storytelling sessions and community archives will explore how memories and traditions are passed from one generation to the next.

A children’s zone will offer art projects and other activities for younger attendees. The festival also will include exhibits and interactive programs from participating organizations.

Parking near Cherry Street Pier may be limited because of construction around the I-95 CAP project. Public transportation, rideshare services, biking and walking along the Delaware River Trail are alternative ways to reach the pier.

Admission is free, but attendees can register in advance through Eventbrite.
