The ABC is giving its kids and family offering a sizeable boost, locking in almost 100 hours of new and returning content from BBC Studios.
The latest agreement builds on the multi-year partnership announced by the ABC and BBC Studios last year, bringing a mix of Australian premieres and familiar favourites to ABC Kids and ABC iview, with dragons, wizards and secretive young crooks all joining the line-up.
Leading the new arrivals is Zog, the CG animated series based on the books by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, which follows the titular dragon alongside Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout.

Other Australian premieres include Dodge’s Pup School, season two of Horrible Science and season seven of Deadly 60, while select seasons of Horrible Histories, Hey Duggee and Supertato are also joining the ABC’s line-up.
The deal also brings Rafi the Wishing Wizard and Crookhaven to Australian audiences, with seven-year-old Rafi learning to use her one-wish-a-day wand, while Crookhaven follows a group of young crooks at a secret boarding school where they are taught to use their skills for good.
BBC Studios ANZ Director of Content Partnerships and Sales Deborah Tod said the latest agreement builds on the companies’ long-running relationship while continuing to meet demand for premium content across platforms.

The announcement also extends beyond the kids slate, with David Attenborough titles Making Life on Earth: Attenborough’s Greatest Adventure and Wild London, along with six-part comedy The Reluctant Vampire starring Lenny Rush.
More than 120 hours of BBC podcasts are also available through ABC Listen under an existing audio deal, including Stalked and You’re Dead to Me.
Zog launches at 6:25pm on Saturday 22 August on ABC Kids and ABC iview.
