Why pick a fight with us? Telangana minister’s daughter dares CM Revanth Reddy – Telangana News

A major political flashpoint has emerged within the Telangana Congress after state Forest Minister Konda Surekha’s daughter, Konda Susmitha, publicly hit out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his recent public endorsement of party MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy.

In a strongly worded message, Susmitha had questioned the CM’s decision to urge the public in Parkal, which she described as “Konda territory,” to re-elect the constituency’s sitting MLA, Revuri Prakash Reddy.

“Why are you coming to my area, coming to Konda’s territory, and asking people to elect Prakash Reddy again?” she asked, referring to CM Reddy.

The remarks came days after the CM, during a public meeting in Parkal, urged voters to re-elect Revuri Prakash Reddy with an even bigger majority compared to the last time.

The endorsement assumed significance as Susmitha has herself expressed interest in contesting the Parkal Assembly seat in the next Assembly election.

Taking direct aim at the CM, she alleged that he and his brothers had benefited at the expense of the state. She also levelled an allegation involving government land worth Rs 200 crore and a shell company.

She said, “Except for you and your brothers falling upon the state and exploiting it, you haven’t done anything else.”

“Why are you (CM Revanth Reddy) picking a fight with us? Why are you doing this to us?” Sushmitha asked.

She also brought caste identity into her attack, saying members of the Kapu community know agriculture but not know how to be “subservient.”

“We belong to the Kapu community… We know agriculture, but we do not know how to be subservient/servile,” Sushmitha said.

She added, “We are Padmashalis… We know how to weave textiles, but unlike these people, we do not know how to be subservient.”

Sushmitha further claimed that people surrounding the Chief Minister, whom she accused of “brokerage,” were conveying him the “wrong signals.”

She, however, stressed she continued to hold the Congress high command, including the All India Congress Committee, in high regard. Sushmitha made the remarks in Parkal, which falls in the Hanumakonda district, on Wednesday.

The Telangana Congress’ disciplinary committee later asked her mother, Konda Surekha, to submit a reply within three days over the comments.

In his directive, the panel’s chairman and Lok Sabha MP, Mallu Ravi, said the committee, after receiving information and going through relevant materials, felt that a comprehensive reply is needed in the matter.
