For Tunisian electronic music artist Ben Deeper, music has always been more than sound. It has been a way to process emotions, explore identity and transform difficult experiences into something meaningful. His journey began with a powerful musical discovery and gradually evolved into an international career shaped by self-learning, persistence and a deep connection to melodic and atmospheric techno.
Beginning his career as DJ Massymo TN in 2011, he later evolved into Ben Deeper, developing a darker, deeper and more emotional musical identity. His work has earned releases on respected international labels, multiple appearances in the Beatport Top 10, and support from internationally recognised artists including Tiësto, Tale Of Us, Mrak, Anyma, Maceo Plex, The Element and 8Kays.
Now, as he prepares to release his debut album, Healing, Ben Deeper reflects on the moments that shaped his career, the role of emotion in his music and his ambition to establish himself as a distinctive name in the global melodic techno scene.
What was the defining moment that first inspired your musical journey?
One of the defining moments that shaped my career was the first time I heard Tiësto’s “Adagio for Strings.” I was young, and hearing that track completely changed my perception of electronic music.
The emotion, atmosphere, melody and energy were unlike anything I had experienced before. I remember thinking that I wanted to understand how music could create such a powerful feeling in people.
That moment became the beginning of a much deeper journey into electronic music. I started teaching myself production, experimenting with different sounds and developing my own approach.
Coming from Tunisia, I was inspired by the local culture but also by the global electronic music scene, particularly trance and melodic music. Eventually, that passion led me to begin my career as DJ Massymo TN in 2011 and later evolve into Ben Deeper, allowing me to explore a deeper, more melodic and atmospheric side of my sound.
Looking back, hearing “Adagio for Strings” was not simply discovering a track I loved. It was the moment I realised that music was something I wanted to dedicate my life to.
What inspired you to enter the electronic music industry?
I was inspired to enter the electronic music industry through a very personal connection with music. During some of the deeper and darker moments of my life, music became a way for me to escape, process my emotions and express things I could not always put into words.
After discovering artists like Tiësto and Armin van Buuren, and later Tale Of Us, I became completely fascinated by their music and the worlds they were creating. I started listening to and buying their CDs and sets, studying their sound and becoming curious about what was happening behind the music.
At some point, I remember asking myself, “Why can’t I be a producer like them?” That question became a turning point.
Instead of only listening to the music I loved, I wanted to understand how it was made and create something of my own.
I started teaching myself production, experimenting constantly and developing my own sound. Over time, that journey evolved from my early work as DJ Massymo TN into Ben Deeper, where I found a deeper, darker and more emotional side of my musical identity.
What makes this industry the right fit for me is that it allows me to turn real emotions and personal experiences into something people can feel. Every track is, in some way, a reflection of a moment, a feeling or a part of my journey.
What has been your biggest achievement as an artist so far?
My biggest achievement so far is building an international career from Tunisia and reaching an audience far beyond my home country through my own music.
Starting as DJ Massymo TN in 2011 and later evolving into Ben Deeper was a long journey of learning, experimenting and finding my own identity as an artist.
Being self-taught, I had to create my own path and constantly push myself to improve. Having my music released on respected international labels, reaching the Beatport Top 10 multiple times and receiving support from artists I grew up listening to, including Tiësto, Tale Of Us, Mrak, Anyma, Maceo Plex, The Element and 8Kays, has been incredibly meaningful.
But what matters most to me is not simply the recognition. It is knowing that music I created from my own experiences, including some of the deeper and darker moments of my life, can connect with people around the world.
Coming from Tunisia and seeing my music travel internationally is something I am especially proud of. It reminds me that you do not have to come from the biggest music industry in the world to create something that can have a global impact.
What are you working on right now?
Right now, I am working on my debut album, Healing, which is a very important milestone in my career.
The album will feature 12 tracks exploring different sides of my sound, from deep and dark atmospheres to more melodic and emotional techno.
I am also collaborating with some established names in the scene, which makes the project even more exciting. These collaborations allow me to explore new creative directions while staying true to my own identity as Ben Deeper.
This album is closely aligned with my long-term goals because I see it as a statement of who I am as an artist and where I want to go next.
Rather than focusing only on individual releases, I want to create a complete musical journey that represents my evolution, my influences and the experiences that have shaped my sound.
Ultimately, my goal is to continue developing an authentic artistic identity, reach a wider international audience and establish Ben Deeper as a distinctive name in the global melodic techno scene.
What is the most valuable lesson music has taught you?
The most valuable lesson I have learned in my career is to keep working hard, no matter what happens in life.
There will always be difficult moments, disappointments, personal struggles and situations that can make you question yourself. But I have learned that you cannot allow those moments to stop you from pursuing what you believe in.
I have also learned to separate my personal life from my professional journey. Relationships and emotions can have a huge impact on us, but instead of allowing them to distract me from my goals, I try to transform those emotions into something creative.

I put the pain, the darkness and the difficult moments into my music.
For me, music has become a way of turning difficult experiences into something meaningful. Rather than letting pain break me, I use it as fuel to create.
Most importantly, I have learned never to give up on my dreams. No matter how long the journey takes or how many obstacles appear along the way, I believe consistency, patience and hard work eventually create opportunities.
That mindset has shaped the way I work today: stay focused, keep creating, keep improving and never stop believing in the vision.
What kind of legacy do you hope to leave through your music?
I want to leave a legacy that goes beyond music.
Coming from Tunisia and building my career largely through self-learning and persistence, I want to prove that your starting point does not define how far you can go.
I want my music to be remembered for its depth, emotion and honesty. The darker and deeper experiences I have lived have become part of my creative identity, and I want to continue transforming those emotions into music that people can connect with around the world.
I also want to inspire the next generation of artists. If someone hears my story and thinks, “If he could do it, maybe I can too,” then I feel I have already made an impact.
Ultimately, I would like to be remembered not only as a producer or artist, but as someone who never gave up on his dream, stayed true to his sound and turned every difficult moment into motivation to create something meaningful.
For Ben Deeper, the journey is still unfolding. But with Healing marking a new chapter, his story continues to demonstrate how passion, resilience and emotional honesty can transform a personal musical journey into a sound capable of reaching audiences far beyond where it began.
