Former Liverpool star Glen Johnson thinks the Reds are “desperate for a right-back” as he backs Tottenham defender Djed Spence to come in.
Johnson, who played 160 times for Liverpool, suggested Spence could turn into a ready-made option for the Reds in a position that caused them problems last season.
Numerous players rotated in at right-back for Arne Slot, with Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones, Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong all featuring in spells.
Johnson, speaking exclusively to GB News through SeatPin, said: “Liverpool are desperate for a right-back.
“But I think this position is a problem for a lot of clubs right now, and the market is poor for full-backs at the moment.
“I’d say most Premier League teams will be thinking they could do with another right-back.”
Commenting on Spurs’ full-back, Johnson said: “Djed Spence had a great World Cup; there’s no doubting that.
“I’m not sure if he’s a title-contending right-back that would suit Liverpool perfectly, but he could be.

“If he’s leaving Spurs and Liverpool should be considering him, I’d advise them to try to sign him on loan.
“That way it’s risk-free for the club, and Djed can prove to Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League that he’s a top-quality right-back.”
Spence impressed at this year’s World Cup for England after being a surprise choice by Thomas Tuchel.
The full-back played eight times for his country at the tournament, starting in four of them.

His most memorable moment came against Argentina, when the Three Lions were ahead 1-0.
As Argentina’s Giuliano Simeone went in on England’s net, Spence made a last-ditch challenge, winning the ball in what would have been an almost certain goal.
Despite his heroics at the tournament and fans rating the 26-year-old far higher, Tottenham are understood to be willing to sell the Englishman.
Inter Milan are reportedly keen, sending an official bid of around £26million for Spence.

The full-back has reportedly agreed to Inter’s contract conditions, according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Inter are short of right-backs at the moment and have been swooping around the Premier League for defenders.
The Italian side brought in Manchester City’s former defender Manuel Akanji on loan last season, making the deal permanent last month.
They also signed John Stones on a free transfer following the conclusion of his contract at the Etihad.
