A 12-year-old was seriously injured after reportedly “train surfing” on top of a Red Line train early Tuesday morning.
According to Universal Hub, the child climbed on top of a Red Line train at JFK/UMass and was riding on the outside of the train when he fell off in the tunnel near Andrew Station shortly before 1 a.m. He somehow managed to get back onto a southbound train at Andrew following the fall.
Transit Police, Boston firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics responded and found the child suffering from a serious but non-life-threatening head injury.
Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan warned that train surfing is extremely dangerous and “could literally cost you your life.”
The incident remains under investigation.
