Cleveland Browns wide receiver Denzel Boston had a huge training camp, and his performed helped him earn a first-team promotion.
First, the Cleveland Browns looked like they got Denzel Boston in a draft-day steal. Then he stood out in minicamp. And now, Boston’s huge minicamp got confirmed by his first-team promotion, according to a post on X by Scott Petrak.
“Browns coach Todd Monken said rookie WR Denzel Boston will move into first-team offense.”
The Browns had their eyes on two receivers, getting KC Concepcion late in the first round. Then they grabbed Boston with the seventh pick in the second round.

“On Wednesday, (Boston) caught three touchdown passes in practice,” Dan Raley wrote. “Seemingly every day he gets at least one. According to daily accounts, he often looks (like) the Browns’ top receiver. With his long 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame, deceptive speed and sure hands, Boston makes it extra hard for Cleveland defensive backs to cover him.”
Brown said the first-round draft snub motivated him.
“That will forever be on my shoulder for the rest of my life,” Boston said. “That’s going to forever be a driving factor of the reason I do what I do. It’s just one of those things that you don’t forget, and it’s always just going to be there.”
Boston has already developed a chemistry with Shedeur Sanders, who is fighting to win the starting quarterback role for the Browns.
“I think it really comes from just knowing my job, knowing what I’m doing, having good communication with the quarterback,” Boston said. “When you’re able to do that, you kind of can just play fluid, play free and just go out there and have fun.”
Right now, the Browns depth chart has Jerry Jeudy sitting in the WR1 role. But that could change if either Concepcion or Boston passes him. And it’s not out of the realm of possibility, the way things have gone for Boston so far.
