New England sent Wallace and a 2029 seventh-round pick to Miami in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick.

The list of 2024 Patriots draft picks still with the team grew even shorter on Monday following a trade as New England moved on from one of the team’s offensive linemen.
Caedan Wallace, an offensive guard picked 68th overall by the Patriots in 2024 out of Penn State, was traded to the Dolphins along with a 2029 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick. Original reports indicated that he was being released, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz and Jonathan Jones of The Athletic. The team announced the deal several hours later.
In addition, the Patriots also announced a corresponding transaction: They had re-signed long snapper Niko Lalos.
The 26-year-old Wallace appeared in a combined 10 games in the 2024 and 2025 seasons, but his playing time tailed off a year ago. After featuring for 129 offensive snaps (35 percent of the team’s total) in 2024, Wallace managed just eight snaps (three percent) a season ago.
The Patriots have continued to emphasize drafting offensive linemen, adding Will Campbell, Jared Wilson, and Marcus Bryant in 2025 and two more in 2026 (including first-round pick Caleb Lomu).
The trades leaves Drake Maye and cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr. as New England’s only 2024 draft picks still on the roster. The Patriots’ second-round pick from that year, wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk, recently retired from the NFL after being traded to the Saints in 2025.
