Long before Mohamed Fawzy photographed major brands, aircraft, and high-profile advertising campaigns, he was simply the person everyone trusted with a camera.
On school trips, teachers and classmates would ask him to take the photographs. During family journeys, he became the unofficial documentarian, preserving moments that everyone knew would never happen in exactly the same way again.
At the time, he was simply taking pictures.
He did not yet know he was learning how to preserve time.
Years later, that instinct would become a professional career spanning commercial photography, advertising, design, and visual storytelling. Today, Fawzy’s work has appeared in major campaigns, including work for SNB and Saudia, while his growing focus on luxury product photography is opening another chapter in his creative evolution.
When Photography Became More Than a Picture
Fawzy’s connection with photography deepened while studying Graphic Design and Photography at the Faculty of Applied Arts.
It was there that he began seeing images differently.
Advertisements in magazines and on city streets fascinated him. A single photograph could influence emotion, create desire, communicate an identity, or make someone curious enough to consider a product.
Photography was no longer simply about making something beautiful.
It was communication.
That realization changed the way Fawzy approached the camera. He began thinking about the relationship between an image and the person viewing it, understanding that successful commercial photography needs to communicate something beyond aesthetics.
It needs to make people feel.
His commitment to mastering the technical and artistic aspects of the craft later led him to earn a Master’s degree in Lighting for Commercial Photography, an achievement that strengthened his expertise in one of the most important elements of visual storytelling and commercial image creation.
Learning the Industry Before Leaving the Classroom
Fawzy began building his professional experience while still studying.
Working with different magazines and Al-Ahram newspaper exposed him to multiple forms of photography and taught him how to adapt his visual approach to different assignments.
But moving to Saudi Arabia presented an entirely different challenge.
The market offered more advanced equipment and technology than the tools he had previously worked with. Competing professionally meant finding a way to deliver exceptional results even when he did not initially have access to the same resources.
He eventually invested in professional equipment and continued developing his technical skills.
But the experience left him with a lesson that remains central to his philosophy.
A camera can capture an image.
It cannot replace the photographer’s eye.
Creativity, an understanding of light, and the ability to recognize a compelling moment remain the real foundations of the craft.
The Images That Became Career Milestones
Two projects stand out as defining moments in Fawzy’s career.
The first was photographing a major SNB campaign following the bank’s merger, with shoots taking place in Riyadh and Jeddah.
The achievement became particularly meaningful because the photographs eventually appeared inside SNB branches. Walking into one of those locations and seeing his own work displayed created a sense of pride that went far beyond completing an assignment.
The second project reached an even larger scale.
For a Saudia campaign created in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Fawzy photographed imagery that was eventually printed across two Saudia aircraft.
There is something uniquely surreal about seeing a photograph you created moving through the sky.
Knowing the image would ultimately exist at such an enormous scale brought both pressure and excitement. Seeing the finished aircraft became one of the proudest moments of his professional journey.
It was proof that a photograph can travel much further than the person who takes it.
The Luxury Details Hidden Inside Light
Today, Fawzy is increasingly focused on product photography, particularly jewelry and perfumes.
The work may appear elegant and effortless when viewed as a finished image. Behind the scenes, however, it is an exercise in precision.
Every stone, surface, bottle, and material responds differently to light. A tiny adjustment in the lighting angle can completely transform how an object appears.
That complexity is exactly what attracts him.
He enjoys using light to reveal the character and beauty already present within a product rather than simply making something look attractive.
His academic specialization in commercial lighting continues to influence this work, allowing him to approach every project with both technical precision and creative vision.
His long-term ambition is to continue developing his commercial photography and collaborate with leading local and international brands at the highest level.
Staying Curious in an Industry That Keeps Changing
For Fawzy, achieving success is only half the challenge.
Maintaining it requires consistency.
Every assignment needs the same attention to detail, passion, and commitment, regardless of how experienced the photographer has become.
That is why he approaches each project almost as if it were his first.
The curiosity remains.
So does the willingness to experiment.
That mindset has become increasingly important as technology transforms the creative industry. Fawzy is particularly interested in artificial intelligence and the ways it is changing how images are created and even how photographers think about visual communication.
He believes the moment a creative professional stops learning is the moment they begin limiting themselves.
A Legacy Written in Images
Fawzy does not want to be remembered simply as a photographer.
He wants to be remembered as someone who could tell stories through images and create work that left a lasting impression.
That ambition reaches beyond his own career.
He hopes other photographers will continue experimenting, developing their skills, and discovering visual identities that belong uniquely to them.
For Fawzy, there is no single formula for great photography. There is only the willingness to keep looking, learning, testing, and seeing differently.
If he could return to the beginning, he would tell himself to experiment more and never fear mistakes.
Because in photography, there is rarely only one absolute answer.
There is another way to see.
And for Mohamed Fawzy, the next great image may simply be waiting for him to find it.
