How Ahmed Elsharkawy Turned Rejection Into A Logistics Success Story

How Ahmed Elsharkawy Turned Rejection Into A Logistics Success Story

Sometimes, a single rejection becomes the beginning of an extraordinary career.

In 2004, Ahmed Elsharkawy walked into an interview at Aramex with the confidence and excitement of a fresh graduate eager to begin his professional journey. Instead of receiving a job offer, he was given a simple but life-changing response: gain experience first, then come back.

For many graduates, those words would have marked the end of a dream. For Ahmed Elsharkawy, they became the starting point of a lifelong commitment to learning, resilience, and continuous self-development.

More than two decades later, that same determination has shaped him into a business development professional, entrepreneur, educator, and logistics innovator whose work continues to influence the supply chain industry across the MENA region.

Building Experience Before Opportunity Arrived

Rather than allowing rejection to define him, Ahmed chose to build the experience he had been told he lacked.

He began his career in 2004 as a first-line technical support specialist in the ADSL sector, where he developed problem-solving skills, customer communication, and technical expertise. Two years later, he transitioned into telesales and marketing, working in IBM software distribution and discovering the commercial side of business.

Each role became another classroom.

Instead of chasing titles, he focused on acquiring knowledge, understanding different industries, and developing the versatility that would later become one of his greatest professional strengths.

His journey proved that experience is not something that appears overnight. It is earned through consistency, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace every opportunity to grow.

Returning Stronger And Building A Career In Logistics

In 2007, Ahmed Elsharkawy returned to Aramex, the very company that had once encouraged him to gain experience before applying again.

This time, the outcome was different.

He joined the global logistics company and spent the next seven years developing expertise across one of the world’s most dynamic industries. Working until 2014, he gained valuable insight into logistics operations, customer service, supply chain management, and business growth.

The experience transformed his understanding of global trade and prepared him for a much larger vision.

Instead of remaining within established systems, he wanted to help build new ones.

Creating Businesses That Solve Real Problems

Entrepreneurship became the next natural chapter.

In 2014, Ahmed co-founded GExpress, expanding his experience from corporate logistics into business ownership. But his entrepreneurial ambitions did not stop there.

In 2018, he joined what he describes as the first supply chain and logistics incubator in the MENA region, where one idea gradually evolved into one of his most meaningful ventures: XTPS.

What began as a project quickly became his passion.

Driven by innovation and practical industry knowledge, XTPS reflects Ahmed’s vision of helping modern businesses navigate the increasingly complex world of logistics and supply chain management through smarter, more efficient solutions.

His work demonstrates how entrepreneurship thrives when it is built around solving real business challenges rather than simply creating another company.

Sharing Knowledge Beyond Business

While building companies, Ahmed also remained committed to education.

In 2017, he became a part-time Teaching Assistant at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST), mentoring students preparing to enter the logistics and business sectors.

For him, education is more than teaching theory.

He encourages young professionals to gain practical experience early by joining internships and participating in student activities before choosing a career direction.

Once that direction becomes clear, he believes focused training and continuous learning become the strongest investments anyone can make.

This philosophy is reflected in what he calls his personal success triangle: age, target, and knowledge.

By balancing these three elements, he believes individuals can create meaningful and sustainable careers.

Leading International Business Development

Today, Ahmed Elsharkawy continues working in business development while contributing to large-scale international initiatives.

Among his recent responsibilities is supporting Africa Excon 2025, one of the region’s major international exhibitions, where logistics, coordination, and strategic planning play a critical role in delivering successful global events.

His career now combines entrepreneurship, supply chain innovation, education, public speaking, and business strategy, reflecting a professional journey built through continuous reinvention rather than a single career path.

A Legacy Built On Continuous Learning

Looking back, Ahmed Elsharkawy sees one lesson above all others.

“No one cares about you, so you need to learn and keep learning.”

Rather than viewing this as discouragement, he sees it as empowerment. Progress belongs to those willing to invest in themselves, embrace challenges, and remain lifelong students regardless of experience or position.

From being rejected as a fresh graduate to building businesses, mentoring future professionals, and contributing to the development of the logistics industry across the MENA region, Ahmed’s journey demonstrates that resilience often creates opportunities greater than the ones initially lost.

His story is not simply about career growth. It is about proving that success is built through persistence, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to continuous learning. As he continues expanding his entrepreneurial ventures and advancing business development across the region, Ahmed Elsharkawy remains a powerful example of how determination can transform setbacks into lasting success.
