Network 10 farewells two senior news leaders as 10 News+ restructure continues
Network 10 has confirmed the voluntary redundancies of 10 News+ executive producer Daniel Sutton and Sydney 5pmbulletin executive producer Julia Burrell, as the broadcaster continues reshaping its news division following the scaling back of 10 News+.
The departures mark the end of more than 40 years of combined experience at the network and come less than a year after the launch of 10 News+, which will air its final weekday edition on Friday before continuing as a Sunday-only news program. Network 10 has previously confirmed that fewer than five staff would be affected by the changes.

Daniel Sutton spent more than two decades with Network 10, working as a journalist, US correspondent and, most recently, executive producer of 10 News+. He was appointed to lead the program ahead of its launch, saying at the time the network was investing in “long-form investigative stories as part of our news offering across all our platforms.”
Julia Burrell has also spent more than 20 years with the broadcaster, overseeing election coverage, major breaking news events and mentoring journalists in the Sydney newsroom.
In an email to staff obtained by Mediaweek, Network 10 Vice President of News Martin White paid tribute to both executives.
“Daniel has become a true leader in our division.
His tireless work as an EP over the last 12 months has been extraordinary.
We will all greatly miss his editorial nous and his sense of humour.”
White also praised Burrell’s contribution to the newsroom.
“Julia has been the powerhouse of the Sydney newsroom.
She has developed and mentored countless staff, helmed elections and rolling coverage with skill and commitment.”
He concluded by acknowledging the impact both had made during their time at the network.
“On a personal and professional level, I’m going to miss them both very much.
They are both great news people, and great humans.”
The email also outlined interim leadership arrangements for 10 News+. Sutton is expected to leave in the coming weeks, while Burrell will remain with the network during a longer transition period.

Dom Haylen will temporarily oversee 10 News+ before returning to the 5pm bulletin, with Michael Reid expected to assume the role when he returns later this year.
