The counting of votes for the Datia Assembly bypoll in Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to begin at 8 am with the counting of postal ballots, with a total of 15 rounds of counting scheduled overall. The main contest in the by-election is considered to be between BJP candidate Ashutosh Tiwari and Congress leader Ghanshyam Singh, who belongs to the Datia royal family.
Tiwari was fielded by the BJP in place of former state home minister Narottam Mishra, who lost the 2023 Assembly election. A total of 1,57,473 voters exercised their franchise out of 2,20,410 eligible electors in the by-election held on July 30.
