One passenger was ejected from the car, police said.
A 17-year-old was killed and four other teenagers were hospitalized after a stolen vehicle crashed in Abington on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Abington police officers had been tracking a stolen Hyundai Santa Fe across multiple streets around 7:45 a.m., according to authorities. As officers attempted to execute a motor vehicle stop, the car veered off the roadway and collided with a tree at 877 Washington St., Police Chief John Bonney said.
At the time of the crash, five people aged 14 to 17 were inside the vehicle, according to Bonney.
One of the passengers, a girl, sustained serious injuries after being thrown from the car and was hospitalized, police said.
Three additional passengers — two boys and one girl — suffered life-threatening injuries and were also taken to a hospital, Bonney said.
The driver was identified as a 17-year-old boy. He was pronounced dead at the crash site, the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office said.
Bonney said officials do not have an update on the current status of the four hospitalized passengers.
The investigation remains ongoing and active, authorities said.
