Karisma Kapoor knows how to strike a balance between androgynous styling and feminine Indian dressing. Where she wears a shirt dress or power suits with much aplomb, she nails a sari or a salwar kameez look equally perfectly. The relaxed fit kalidar silk kurta featured ornate floral and paisley motifs in colourful resham threads and zardozi embroidery in shades of pink, turquoise, red, purple and orange. Geometric floral buttis lined the scallop hem of the baby pink silk trousers. Kapoor layered the look with a matching floral dupatta in organza silk with a cut-work border and handmade tassels.
For jewellery, stylist Esha Amin chose chandelier earrings with cascading pearls and a stack of diamond-encrusted bangles from Kalyan Jewellers. A pair of juttis from New-Delhi based footwear label House Of Vian completed the look. For the beauty look, makeup artist Divya Shetty opted for a luminous base with glittery eyelids, defined lashes, blushed cheeks, glossy pink lips and a pink diamond bindi. Hairstylist Radhika Patel styled Kapoor’s hair in loose, side-parted soft curls.
Mrunalini Rao has dressed several celebrities over the years. Founded in 2014, the Hyderabad-based label blends traditional Indian embroidery techniques such as zardozi and gota with intricate appliqué work. The designer often draws from a rich Indian colour palette, incorporating shades of rani pink, purple, turquoise, red and mustard yellow into her creations. Mrunalini Rao’s creations have been worn by Rashmika Mandanna, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Bhumi Pednekar, Sreeleela and Tara Sutaria among others.
