Viral video of Sonam Wangchuk at hospital shows activist being stopped by cops

A video of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who observed a 26-day hunger strike over the alleged NEET paper leak, has gone viral, showing him walking through a corridor at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital while attempting to leave the facility.

In the video, Wangchuk is seen confronting a police officer, accusing him of harassment and insisting that he was a free citizen. He also alleges that he was being detained without reason despite being on the 24th day of his fast.

Police said the footage was recorded on July 21, when the Delhi High Court ordered that Wangchuk be shifted to a hospital of his choice. However, they claimed he attempted to leave before authorities received the court’s written order, prompting officers to stop him.

The court’s order had come after Wangchuk’s wife, Geetanjali Angmo, had requested that her husband be shifted to a hospital in Gurugram for treatment.
