Telangana Recognised School Managements Association president S.N. Reddy and general secretary K. Anil Kumar submitting a representation to Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police B. Sumathi in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The Telangana Recognised School Managements Association (TRSMA), representing nearly 11,500 budget private schools across the State, has appealed to the police, to provide enhanced security for schools, alleging repeated disruptions by external groups.
In a representation submitted to Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police B. Sumathi, the association said its member schools cater to nearly 15 lakh students and provide affordable education on a non-profit basis. It expressed concern over what it described as increasing interference by various groups, including social activists, Joint Action Committees (JACs), student organisations, RTI activists and some individuals posing as journalists.
TRSMA president S.N. Reddy and general secretary K. Anil Kumar said these groups have been allegedly entering school premises, disrupting academic activities and making demands such as fee concessions, free admissions and monetary payments. It also alleged that some individuals had threatened school managements and damaged school property, resulting in financial losses and raising concerns over the safety of students and staff.
The TRSMA urged the police to strengthen security arrangements at schools and take stringent action to prevent unauthorised persons from disrupting educational institutions.
