Sydney FC have brought a club legend back to Sky Park, handing two-time Championship winner Charlotte McLean a two-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season.
The 26-year-old centre-back returns after re-joining the Sky Blues for the final two matches of last season following an 18-month spell in the United States with North Carolina Courage and Tampa Bay Sun.
McLean has won two Championships and three Premierships during her time with Sydney FC having made 76 appearances in total.

One of the competition’s most reliable defenders, she was also named the club’s Player of the Season in 2024 and earned selection in the PFA Team of the Season in both 2022/23 and 2023/24.
“I’m really excited to be back at Sydney FC for the next two years,” McLean said.
“Coming back for the final two games of last season reminded me just how special this club is.
“I loved being back around the group, the staff and our Members and fans, and it didn’t take long for me to know this was where I wanted to continue my career.
“We’ve got a really exciting squad, and I can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season and help this team compete for trophies.”

Sydney FC Women’s Head Coach James Slaveski said McLean’s experience and leadership would be a major boost for the squad.
“Charlotte is a top-quality central defender who brings a wealth of experience and a real winning mentality to our group,” he said.
“You could see the impact she had as soon as she came back into the team at the end of last season.
“She gave us composure, organisation and leadership.

McLean is the first of a number of signings Sydney FC are set to announce as the club continues to build its squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season.
