One woman was killed and another injured late Friday night in a single-car crash in Taunton, authorities said.
Taunton police and emergency medics responded to a crash near 266 County St. at about 11:15 p.m. and found a 2001 Honda Accord resting against a telephone pole with heavy damage to its driver’s side, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
The driver, 26-year-old Taunton resident Selina Mendez, was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and pronounced dead soon after, the DA’s office said. Her passenger, a 23-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.
Authorities have provided few details about the circumstances of the crash, which remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Department and Massachusetts State Police detectives with the DA’s office.
No further information was available Monday.
