Regular readers will know that I am a sucker for kinky DIY. I once built my own spanking bench, and a (very shoddy) clamp/holder for a Fleshlight launch so I could fulfil my dreams of milking a man while he was restrained. I’ve also been delighted to host an incredible guest blog about a DIY glory hole. Don’t get me wrong, I am not encouraging you to do this kind of thing yourself. I have a penchant for DIY and a reckless disregard for my own safety, and occasionally I have partners who want to go all-in on these things with me. But if you’re planning on building your own kink devices, the sensible schoolteacher in me has to tell you ‘don’t try this at home.’ The eager pervert in me, though? That’s a very different matter. The eager pervert in me leapt up in joy when I got an email from the fabulous sex writer Starcross with today’s blog post. He built the kink devices you can see in the image above, and he’s here to explain exactly how – and why – he created kinky implements to fulfil his exacting requirements. Note that there are brief mentions of injury and blood in this story – during the ‘building’ phase, not the ‘kink toys in use’ phase. I am so impressed with his determination and creativity, and beyond delighted he’s up for sharing them here!
I built my own kink devices
The purpose of spreader bars is, unsurprisingly, to spread. Each end has an ankle cuff which secures a person with their legs apart, there are also usually wrist cuffs further towards the centre. When your sub has gloriously long legs that beg to be explored the 85cm-long bars found online and in shops just don’t cut it. The sub wouldn’t be spread, they would be slightly ajar.
I needed a spreader bar that would stretch my sub J at least one metre ankle-to-ankle, I therefore needed to make my own. For many days I trawled DIY stores trying to find the perfect materials. Plastic tubes would be too flimsy. Iron bars too heavy and tough to work with. Copper pipes were too basic; aestheticism was important too.
To my door were delivered chrome-plated pipes and some nuts and bolts. Good news: my drill cut easily through the pipes and formed the holes through which I could adjust the bar. I could pack it down small so as not to leave Londoners wondering why I was carrying over a metre of metal pipe on the train. To finish my creation there was just that little sharp metal splinter I needed to hacksaw off…
…which is how I ended up in A&E with blood pouring out from the tip of my thumb. Over two hours of waiting to be seen seemed to fix the problem, I discharged myself and went to a dungeon event that evening unperturbed.
When I first saw J naked with her ankles shackled to the spreader bar and wrists cuffed behind her back I didn’t think about the effort and injury that had been involved with my creation. I was instead in awe at how breathtakingly vulnerable and exposed she was.
The bar worked perfectly. It has since been used many times, and I have made some tiny tweaks to perfect it. J has been shackled to the bar in many positions. Stood up with hands behind her back. Bent over a table. On her back with her spread legs high in the air, providing very easy access to the juiciest parts of her body.
Emboldened by my creation I thought about what else I could make. Spreader bars have featured in more than a few of my fantasies, one-bar prisons have too.
A one-bar prison works like this: the prisoner stands with feet either side of a vertical bar protruding from a steady platform. The bar can be adjusted in height and at the top end is a dildo, which, when the bar is raised, penetrates the sub in a hole of your choosing. The bar is secured and the sub is handcuffed. By being impaled on the dildo with wrists restrained they are unable to move away.
Key to the one-bar prison is the stand on which the bar is attached. Never in need of an excuse to distract myself from my work I went on another DIY hunt. Here’s what my one-bar prison is made from: parasol stand, iron handrail, hollow dildo, duct tape. Add some tools and a LOT of caution and you’ll have an amazing value DIY one-bar prison (priced online at €399, my DIY version: less than £35), which can be packed down for easy transport. But the proof is in the penetrating.
Deploying the spreader bar for additional restriction, I stripped J naked, stood her over the one-bar prison and raised the bar, gently sliding the dildo inside her captive cunt. I secured the bar at its full extent, blindfolded J, handcuffed her and stood back to admire my work.
Once again, however, it was not my work I was admiring. It was J. How delicious she looked. How helpless, imprisoned on that bar. How utterly, totally mine, to do with as I wished.
J told me afterwards how delirious with surrender she felt in that moment. I was stood next to her, not knowing how her body may react during this first use and, therefore, ready to catch or steady her. But I did not need to do this. Instead I let her float happily away. Eventually, of course, I became unable to resist the urge to touch her.
Running my fingers up the exquisite softness of the inside of her thighs, I delighted in knowing that she wasn’t able to resist my touches. She could only stand there as I pinched her nipples, spanked her, sought out her clit with fingers and tongue.
My one-bar prison still needs some small improvements, but only because I want a perfect tool to match my perfect toy.
The end of my thumb healed. I’d spent relatively little money. I now have delightful ways in which to spread and imprison J. The only question is; what can I build next?
