The future of business is no longer defined by technology alone.
It is shaped by the people who know how to connect innovation with opportunity, research with execution, and ambition with meaningful impact. As industries evolve at unprecedented speed, the leaders making the greatest difference are those who understand that economic transformation begins with empowering people as much as businesses.
Few embody that philosophy more completely than Ahella El Saban.
An entrepreneur, investor, researcher, and business leader, Ahella has spent more than 17 years working at the intersection of investment, technology, entrepreneurship, and economic development. Over the course of her career, she has helped facilitate more than US$500 million in investment, supported over 150,000 entrepreneurs and professionals through capacity-building initiatives, and worked across 10 international markets to strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems and improve access to capital.
Previously recognised among Forbes Middle East’s 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen (2025) and twice named one of Egypt’s Top 50 Women Entrepreneurs, Ahella has built a career focused on helping businesses scale, become investment-ready, and access new growth opportunities.
From Academic Research to Business Transformation
Born in Egypt and raised between London and New York, Ahella’s professional journey has always been rooted in education, research, and continuous learning.
She earned bachelor’s degrees from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom and The British University in Egypt, before completing her master’s degree at Durham University.
Her career began in academia as an Assistant Lecturer specialising in research, consumer behaviour, and strategic management. Studying how consumers think, make decisions, and respond to brands gave her a strong analytical foundation that continues to shape her work today.
As digital transformation accelerated globally, however, she recognised that meaningful impact required more than research alone.
It required helping organisations apply knowledge to solve real-world business challenges.
That realization led her into technology, digital transformation, and investment advisory, where research became action and insight translated into measurable business growth.
Driving Investment and Business Growth Through Exits MENA
Today, Ahella serves as Co-Founder and Vice Executive Chairman of Exits MENA, one of the Middle East’s leading investment advisory firms.
She leads the company’s strategic growth, regional expansion, technology initiatives, and investment ecosystem partnerships across the Middle East and international markets.
Through Exits MENA, she has helped support more than 5,000 businesses through investment matchmaking platforms and ecosystem initiatives, advised over 100 companies on investment strategy, growth, and market expansion, and successfully closed more than 15 investment, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic transactions collectively valued at hundreds of millions of US dollars.
She has also trained over 1,000 startups and SMEs in investment readiness, helping founders strengthen their businesses before engaging investors.
Her work spans startups, SMEs, family businesses, multinational corporations, financial institutions, investors, and government entities, combining strategic advisory with practical execution to accelerate sustainable economic growth.
Helping Businesses Embrace Digital Transformation
Earlier in her career at Google MENA, Ahella advised leading regional and multinational organisations on digital strategy, consumer behaviour, marketing effectiveness, and business growth.
Working with companies across multiple industries, she helped organisations strengthen customer acquisition strategies, accelerate digital transformation, and unlock new commercial opportunities through data-driven decision-making.
Her ability to combine analytical thinking with commercial execution has remained one of the defining strengths of her leadership throughout her career.
Empowering Entrepreneurs Through LUMAS Global
Alongside her corporate career, Ahella founded LUMAS Global, a market research and capacity-building company specialising in online consumer behaviour, entrepreneurship, and digital transformation.
Working with organisations including Google, TikTok, Nestlé, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and government entities, LUMAS has trained more than 150,000 entrepreneurs, youth, and business leaders across the region.
The company has delivered over 20 international research initiatives and collaborated with more than 50 global, regional, and public-sector partners to strengthen entrepreneurship, digital capability, employability, and innovation.
For Ahella, education represents one of the most valuable investments any society can make.
She believes empowering individuals with knowledge creates stronger businesses, more resilient economies, and greater long-term opportunity.
Influencing Global Conversations
Beyond business leadership, Ahella has become an internationally recognised keynote speaker and TEDx speaker.
She regularly addresses audiences around the world on entrepreneurship, investment ecosystems, artificial intelligence, leadership, consumer behaviour, and the psychology of success.
She also serves on several boards and advisory bodies, including the Youth Entrepreneurs Network (YEN) and the Executive Board of the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science at The British University in Egypt, where she contributes to strengthening entrepreneurship ecosystems, education, innovation, and graduate employability.
Advancing Research While Shaping the Future
Ahella continues to combine academic research with practical business leadership.
She is currently completing her PhD examining how female identity shapes luxury consumer behaviour in the UAE.
Her research extends consumer behaviour and luxury marketing theory by introducing new perspectives on Arab female identity, helping international brands develop more culturally relevant strategies while increasing Arab women’s representation within academic research.
She is also the author of an upcoming book exploring mindset and entrepreneurial success and is preparing to launch a regional thought leadership and social impact platform dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs—particularly female founders—through educational content, mentorship, investment readiness, and improved access to capital.
Building a Legacy Beyond Business
Looking ahead, Ahella El Saban’s vision extends beyond building successful companies or closing investment transactions.
Whether advising governments, scaling high-growth businesses, investing in founders, or strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems, her mission remains clear: to bridge innovation, investment, and human potential in ways that create stronger, more inclusive, and globally competitive economies.
Her journey demonstrates that transformational leadership is measured not only by financial success, but by the opportunities created, the people empowered, and the ecosystems strengthened along the way.
As Ahella El Saban continues connecting research with action, investment with innovation, and education with entrepreneurship, she remains one of the region’s most influential voices shaping the future of business through purpose, knowledge, and meaningful impact.
