A political sparring match broke out on social media after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal responded with a terse “Who are you?” to a post featuring BJP national president Nitin Nabin, prompting a sharp rebuttal from Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
The exchange began after the BJP shared a statement by Nabin in which he criticised Opposition leaders, including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Kejriwal, over issues related to Hindu faith and Sanatan Dharma.
“I want to tell Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Kejriwal not to consider the Hindu religion so weak that people will fall for your rhetoric. When your people insult Hindu deities, you remain silent. The people of Uttar Pradesh and the country will never tolerate insults to Sanatan. We have preserved our heritage, for which our ancestors even made sacrifices,” Nabin said in the post shared by the BJP.
Reacting to the post, Kejriwal replied on X with a brief remark: “Who are you?”
His response drew a strong reaction from Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who posted a detailed reply defending the BJP leader and taking aim at the former Delhi chief minister.
Addressing Kejriwal directly, Gupta said 46-year-old Nitin Nabin is the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which she described as the world’s largest political party. She highlighted his political journey, saying he had represented Bihar’s Bankipur Assembly constituency four consecutive times and had risen through the ranks from a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha worker to become the party’s national president.
Gupta also noted that Nabin is currently a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament.
“You are frustrated and disappointed, everyone knows that. But it seems your arrogance is still touching the skies,” Gupta wrote.
Drawing a historical parallel, she added that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had once asked, “Who is Amit Shah?”, before remarking that “time answers every question”.
In a further jibe at Kejriwal, Gupta wrote, “Even Ravana’s arrogance did not last. Who are you?”
The exchange is the latest in a series of sharp political confrontations between the BJP and the AAP leadership, with social media increasingly becoming a battleground for public messaging ahead of key political contests.
