Dubai Sports World opens for summer 2026

Dubai Sports World has opened its 16th edition at Dubai World Trade Centre, giving residents another indoor option for sport during the hottest part of the year.

The summer venue opened on June 19 and will run until August 25 across Za’abeel Halls 2 to 6.

It is open daily from 8am to midnight, with more than 40 courts and pitches spread across 280,000 square feet.

This year’s programme covers nine core sports: football, basketball, cricket, and various racket sports such as padel, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, badminton and pickleball.

The opening was attended by Mahir Abdulkarim Julfar, Executive Vice President of Dubai World Trade Centre, Essa Sharif, Director of Sports Events at Dubai Sports Council, and representatives from Dubai Police.

Maryam Alfarsi, the first Emirati female sprinter to compete at an Olympic Games, was guest of honour.

The event has become a regular part of the city’s summer sports calendar, especially for families, clubs and academies and casual players looking for indoor facilities.

A new 1km indoor running and walking track has been added for 2026. It gives runners and walkers a way to keep training away from the summer heat.

Wolfi’s Cycling Academy has also joined the programme, offering coached sessions for beginners and experienced cyclists.

Orienteering has been added too, in partnership with the UAE Orienteering Foundation. The activity combines movement, navigation and problem-solving.

Julfar said the event gives Dubai residents more access to sport through the summer months.

“Dubai Sports World 2026 shows our ongoing commitment to enhancing community wellbeing by providing accessible and inclusive sporting opportunities throughout the summer”

With school holidays under way and outdoor training harder through the summer, Dubai Sports World gives the city a familiar indoor base for sport, fitness and community activity until late August.
