A highly anticipated new restaurant has landed in the Adelaide CBD, with Italian Street Kitchen now officially open on Currie Street. Bringing handmade pasta, wood-fired pizzas and a playful modern twist on Italian dining, this interstate spot is now calling the stunning, heritage-listed Elder House home.
Italian Street Kitchen has opened its doors with a focus on local produce and vibrant dining, something it has become known for at its locations in Western Australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
Managing Director of Blue Coral Concepts, Gareth Howard, shared, “We’ve had our eye on Adelaide for a long time, waiting for the right location to bring Italian Street Kitchen to South Australia. When the Currie Street site became available, we moved quickly.
“The state’s mix of artisan producers and world‑class wine regions made it an easy decision, and we’re honoured to join such a respected food and wine community. This opening is just the beginning of more to come; we see enormous potential to grow more of our brands in Adelaide.”
At the new Adelaide venue, there is a sharp focus on local connection, with South Australian wines and producers playing a key role across the menu and drinks list. The restaurant is built around a grain-to-plate philosophy, with house-made pasta and wood-fired pizzas crafted from a proprietary flour blend developed exclusively with Provence Flour & Malt, sourced from Australian family-run farms. This sets the tone for a menu that combines Italian tradition with a distinctly Australian twist.
Standouts include a reimagined bruschetta served on pillowy, doughnut-style pizza dough topped with confit cherry tomatoes and stracciatella, a rich lamington tiramisu that fuses two dessert cultures, and a bold bolognese elevated with bone marrow pangrattato for extra depth and texture.
Executive Chef Giulio Marchese shared, “My inspiration for the menu was to honour the soul of Italian heritage while refining it through a modern Australian lens. That means respecting the craft’s discipline while also daring to evolve it. You can taste that evolution in our process: we ferment our dough for 48 hours to develop deep, complex flavour and the perfect bite, before hand‑stretching and firing it in our own Roman‑style oven. It’s authentically Italian, finished with a twist you won’t find anywhere else.”
The drinks list follows the same style, pairing Italian staples with South Australian producers including Tin Shed, Main & Cherry and Emmalene, alongside a lineup of signature cocktails. The standout is the Adelaide Spritz, a local blend of apple, lemon myrtle and prosecco, designed exclusively for the venue.
The Currie Street space has been designed as a flexible dining destination, equally suited to long lunches, after-work spritzes or weekend dining sessions. Inside, the venue brings together warm lighting, textured finishes and a modern European aesthetic, designed to feel both elevated and approachable.
So with handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza and a strong South Australian influence integrated throughout, Italian Street Kitchen is already shaping up as one of the CBD’s most exciting new winter arrivals.
