A 52-year-old man accused in multiple house burglary cases was arrested by the Balapur police, who recovered stolen gold and silver ornaments from his possession.
The accused was identified as Mohammed Saleem alias Sunil Shetty alias Ibrahim alias Setty Saleem, a wall painter and resident of Aline Colony in Shaheen Nagar, Balapur.
According to the police, Saleem was involved in a series of night house burglaries reported in Venkatapur village, Alain Hills and Wade-e-Musthafa under the limits of Balapur police station. Investigators also linked him to burglary cases registered in Pahadishareef, Meerpet and Falaknuma police station limits.
During the investigation, police recovered 62 grams of gold ornaments and 270 grams of silver ornaments allegedly stolen in the offences.
Police said the accused is a habitual offender with an extensive criminal record. Records showed that he had previously been involved in 78 property-related cases registered in different police stations.
Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused was involved in any additional unsolved burglary cases.
