With Sam Pang stepping away after 3 years as host, Seven have moved to secure the latest Australian TV star doing big business overseas.
A move away from a comedic host to our very own ‘Mr Nice Guy’ is seen as a make-or-break move by the Network, and one heralded by returning programming boss Angus Ross. Will there be a comedy monologue to open the show and will that responsibility fall to ‘Baby Bob’? Who will write the jokes (normally the host brings in a couple of hand-picked writers that know their voice to help them craft the script), and will it be played like his I’m A Celebrity schtick? How long will the shirtless dance number go for? So may questions remain unanswered.

Seven today confirmed that the magnetic Robert Irwin will host this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards on Sunday, 16 August, at The Star Sydney, live and exclusive on Seven and 7plus.
One of the most in-demand hosts in the world right now, Robert brings an infectious energy, natural charisma and warmth that has captivated audiences not just at home but across the globe.
From wildlife conservation to winning the US season of Dancing with the Stars, Robert has authentically built on his family’s Aussie Royalty status. He has proven time and again that there is nothing he cannot turn his hand to, and we cannot wait to see him own the TV WEEK Logies stage on Sunday 16 August as we celebrate the very best TV Australia has to offer.
On taking on the role of host, Robert said:
“Hosting the TV WEEK Logie Awards is one of the most exciting things I’ve been asked to do. Throughout my life, my goal has been to spread an important message not only through our work at Australia Zoo, but also on the screen. I grew up watching the Logies with my family, so this is certainly an honour. Australian television has given so much to so many people. To be part of the biggest night in Aussie TV is something I don’t take lightly. I cannot wait!”
Seven’s Managing Director, Television and Streaming, Angus Ross, said:
“Robert Irwin is one of the most exciting and sought-after stars on the planet right now. He has captured the hearts of audiences from Australia to America and everywhere in between; there is simply no one better to lead Australia’s biggest night of television. The 66th TV WEEK Logie Awards on Seven is the must-watch television event of the year.”
This year, Australian television will celebrate a spectacular 70-year milestone – seven vibrant, informative and entertaining decades of Australian storytelling. Over this time, TV has been the heartbeat of Australian homes, keeping us connected across generations while showcasing the creativity and talent of our local industry. The TV WEEK Logie Awards are the biggest celebration of Australian television, and this year’s awards will have a bounty of outstanding work to honour and shine a spotlight on.
