A Franklin man with an “extensive criminal record” was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly leading officers on a chase that morning, police said
Dominick Revell, 54, was taken into custody by Franklin and Bellingham police after they warned residents that they were looking for him. He has several active warrants for “motor vehicle offenses and previous incidents involving failure to stop for police,” Franklin police said on Facebook.
Shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, Bellingham Officer Dan Gavin attempted to stop Revell’s Ford Ranger on Pulaski Boulevard, the two departments said in a joint press release. When Revell failed to stop, police pursued him into Franklin, where local officers joined the effort.
Officers deployed stop sticks on Grove Street, deflating Revell’s passenger-side tires, but he kept driving until he came to a stop on Pond Street. During the chase, Revell struck several mailboxes with his car, police said.
Revell allegedly then got out of his car and fled on foot, jumping over a fence and swimming across a small river before continuing into a wooded area, the departments said. Despite assistance from regional K9 teams and drone operators, officers were initially unable to find him.
Both departments warned residents about the large police presence and shared a mugshot of Revell from a 2021 arrest. Bellingham police described him as having “an extensive criminal record” with “several outstanding warrants.”
Later that day, police said on Facebook that they had apprehended Revell in Franklin. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Bellingham Police Department for processing.
“The Bellingham Police Department would like to thank the Franklin Police Department, as well as K9 teams from the Foxborough Police Department and Police Department of Milford, Massachusetts, and Millis Police Department for their assistance throughout this investigation and search efforts,” Bellingham police said in a Facebook post.
Neither police department specified the exact warrants they were pursuing but noted that they will each be seeking additional warrants. Bellingham police will seek to charge Revell with failure to stop for police, reckless operation, operating after suspension, speeding, and multiple other motor vehicle violations, while Franklin police will seek to charge him with several motor vehicle violations, including leaving the scene of property damage and reckless operation.
No attorney information for Revell was immediately available Tuesday night. Bellingham and Franklin police did not immediately return requests for further details about Revell’s criminal history.
