18-year-old shoots and kills sister in N.H., police say

Logan Anderson was arrested after his older sister, Leah, was shot in the head Monday.

An 18-year-old shot and killed his sister in New Hampshire on Monday, according to authorities.

At about 8:20 a.m., police responded to a residence on Mad River Road in Thornton after receiving a 911 call. They found 21-year-old Leah Anderson suffering from a gunshot wound to her head, Attorney General John Formella’s office announced in conjunction with state and local police.

Anderson was transported to a hospital. She later died from her injury, officials said. An autopsy is scheduled to take place Tuesday.

Logan Anderson, 18, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder, authorities announced later on Monday. He is set to be arraigned at the 2nd Circuit District Court in Plymouth, New Hampshire, on Tuesday.

An investigation is ongoing, and officials have released little information about the shooting.

Leah Anderson was reportedly a former student at Plymouth State University, who majored in Elementary Education and Youth Development. Spokespeople for the school did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday.
