Just a little after 4:00 P.M. this afternoon came the announcement that we all anticipated — lighting up our phones and social media posts. AJ Brown has now been traded to the New England Patriots in return for a 2027 5th Round Draft Pick and a 2028 1st Round Selection

Joining the Eagles through a blockbuster acquisition from the Titans in August of 2022 — Brown was one of the best receivers in Eagles history — ranking ninth on the All-Time list with more than 5,000 yards and 32 touchdowns. And his domination on the field in midnight green directly correlated to three NFC East Titles, two NFC Championships, and one Lombardi Trophy.

But his brilliance in Philadelphia over four seasons was overshadowed by a restlessness that led to cryptic tweets, statements to the press, and even reading a book on the sideline. Last year — he even admitted that a Super Bowl Championship didn’t heal all wounds. In his final game as an Eagle — a playoff game against the 49ers — Brown recorded only three receptions and had an altercation with Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni on the sideline.

AJ Brown will also be remembered for being part of a receiving tandem with DeVonta Smith that very well may go down as one of the best in NFL History.
