Haiti forward Batcheba Louis helped Birmingham City Football Club Women secure promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) after winning the English Championship (WSL2). This title marks a major milestone in the Grenadière’s first season with the club.

Louis, 28, the Haitian women’s national team’s all-time leading scorer [33 goals], joined Birmingham on August 30 after several successful seasons in France’s Arkema Première Ligue, where she built a reputation as one of Haiti’s most consistent attacking threats. In England, she quickly became a regular starter, scoring four goals in 19 league appearances and playing a key role in the club’s return to the top division— a level the Blues were demoted from four years ago.

She has so far scored seven goals and registered one assist in 24 matches across all competitions for the English club.

In leaving France’s Arkema Première Ligue Fleury 91 side, the prolific Grenadière striker opens a spot for compatriot Lourdjina Etienne

Her move to England’s more competitive and physical league represents another step forward in her career, following stints with clubs in France’s top divisions, including her time at FC Fleury 91, where she gained experience against some of Europe’s best teams.

Louis’ progression is also significant for Haiti’s national team as it prepares for upcoming international competitions, including the final round of qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics.

A central figure in Haiti’s historic qualifications for the 2018 Under-20 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 senior Women’s World Cup, the former AS Tigresse of Port-au-Prince’s star striker has been a consistent offensive leader for Les Grenadières. Her development in one of Europe’s top leagues is expected to strengthen Haiti’s attacking options as the team looks to build on recent international appearances and compete at a higher level.

Birmingham’s promotion ensures Louis will now compete regularly against elite clubs in the Women’s Super League next season, offering valuable high-level experience that could translate into improved performance for Haiti on the international stage.

For Haitian soccer, her rise reflects a broader trend of national team players gaining exposure in stronger leagues abroad—an essential factor as the program aims to remain competitive in the CONCACAF region and beyond.

Louis was crowned champion with the Blues for the 2025-26 season after a dramatic 2-0 final-day victory over Charlton Athletic on May 2. A double from Wilma Leidhammar sealed the title.
