All major Opposition leaders in Assam, including Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia, Akhil Gogoi, Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Jagadish Bhuyan and Rajen Gohain, were trailing in their respective constituencies, according to Election Commission data on Monday (May 4, 2026).
Congress leader Saikia was trailing by 46,701 votes in Sivasagar district’s Nazira seat. BJP’s Mayur Borgohain is leading with a total of 98,198 votes in the eighteenth round.
