Sir Alex Ferguson health update after Man Utd legend was rushed to hospital

There has been a positive update on Sir Alex Ferguson’s condition after the Manchester United legend was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Scotsman was feeling unwell during United’s Premier League clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The legendary former United boss was initially checked over by medical staff in the tunnel area when he first started to feel poorly.

He was then swiftly transported from the stadium to hospital for further assessment.

Before leaving, Ferguson had been spotted on social media greeting fans and chatting with staff at his old stomping ground.

The good news is that the iconic Scotsman appears to be on the mend. When the Press Association asked a source close to Ferguson how he was doing, they confirmed he was “Okay.”

It’s understood he’s feeling much better and remains in good spirits.

While Ferguson was being looked after, his former club put on quite a show in his absence.

Michael Carrick’s side came out firing in the first half, with Matheus Cunha opening the scoring courtesy of a mishit half-volley that wrong-footed Liverpool keeper Freddie Woodman and nestled into the far corner.

Benjamin Sesko then added a second, though his goal sparked plenty of debate. The Slovenian striker bundled the ball home in a manner that may have involved his hand, but VAR couldn’t find a definitive angle to overturn it.

Liverpool roared back after the break, levelling things up within 11 minutes through Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo, who capitalised on some sloppy defending from United.

Just when it looked like the points might be shared, Kobbie Mainoo stepped up with a moment of magic.

The midfielder struck a beautiful half-volley from 18 yards out in the 77th minute, guiding the ball home to make it 3-2 and send Old Trafford into raptures.

It was a goal that meant everything for United’s European ambitions.

The victory guarantees Carrick’s men a top-five finish and a spot in next season’s Champions League – their first appearance in Europe’s premier competition for two years.

Ferguson would surely have loved watching that one. A performance and result the legendary boss would have been proud of.
