One of brightest young stars in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) is already planning his next move, with Sameer Minhas set to turn to red-ball cricket after the end of the tournament in a bid to further sharpen his game.
The Pakistan Under-19 star is expected to feature for JDW Sugar Mills in the upcoming President’s Trophy Grade-II, a three-day competition that will mark his first appearance in senior red-ball cricket.
Sameer Minhas is also in line to make his first-class debut for Pakistan Television in the next domestic season. The department side, which won the President’s Trophy in 2024, is understood to have identified him as part of its plans for the longer format.
His elder brother Arafat Minhas is already part of that setup.
The young right-hander has earned praise for combining solid technique with attacking strokeplay, making him one of the most talked-about emerging batters in Pakistan cricket.
Those qualities were on full display during PSL 2026, where he has been one of the standout uncapped performers of the season.
Sameer Minhas had already built his reputation before the PSL through a string of impressive displays in age-group cricket. He rose to prominence with a match-winning 172 off 113 balls against India in the Under-19 Asia Cup final and finished as the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 471 runs in five matches.
He then went on to become Pakistan’s top run-getter at the Under-19 World Cup and also smashed the fastest century in youth ODIs, reaching three figures in just 42 balls against Zimbabwe.
That rise made him one of the most sought-after young names at the PSL player auction, where a bidding battle pushed his price to Rs. 19 million, the highest amount paid for an uncapped Under-23 player.
He justified the hype with an outstanding PSL season, scoring 343 runs in 10 innings at an average of 42.87 and a strike rate of 155.90. He also hit three half-centuries and became the teenager with the most runs in a single PSL season.
