The Philadelphia 76ers did more than simply save their playoff hopes. They altered the series’ level of pressure. Because what transpired involved a shift in control rather than merely averting elimination. And that’s what it all boils down to while playing the Boston Celtics.
Boston had the opportunity and couldn’t close
Boston has appeared to be the team controlling terms for the majority of this series. They have established leads, controlled stretches, and often forced Philadelphia to react. However, that control faded when it came time to end the series in Boston. The attack came to a stop, shot selection became more stringent, and strategies that used to produce neat looks became forced attempts. This has nothing to do with skill as it has everything to do with execution failing when it counts most.
Philadelphia didn’t just respond, they played with structure
This performance wasn’t only a comeback, it was the appearance of identity.
Instead of settling in, Joel Embiid forced himself inside and attacked the paint. Tyrese Maxey contributed speed, energy, and production. Paul George gave a comprehensive, well-rounded performance on the entire floor.
Quentin Grimes was another. This kind of contribution alters momentum rather than just a box score. This was not an offense that relied heavily on isolation, as It was control, movement, and spacing.
The difference is showing up late in games
Whoever is more talented won’t win this series. It’s enough for both teams when it comes to that.
When the game gets tight, who executes will determine the outcome.
Late in the game, Boston has relied on challenging shots and erratic rhythm. Philadelphia has tended to be calm, balanced, and structured. Same matchup, but when the pressure rises, quite diverse outcomes occur.
The pressure point has officially shifted
The series now takes a different turn at this point. The Celtics had the chance to put an end to it, however they didn’t.
The pressure changes now. If the 76ers keep regulating speed, produce a strong offensive, and receive contributions from all areas of the floor then this series is taken up by them.
If the Boston Celtics are able to reset aggressively, produce neater looks, and restore tempo then the serial quickly returns in their favor. Same two teams, but with two entirely distinct directions.
This wasn’t about survival as it was about control
This was more than just surviving another game in the playoffs, it has to do with proving something under pressure.
That Philadelphia could perform, maintain composure, and control how the game was played when the chips were down. What transpired is no longer the question. The question now is whether that control is maintained.
