A 70-year-old man was kidnapped and brutally assaulted by the family of the woman with whom his son had eloped in Madhya Pradesh. The incident happened last month, however, a video of the assault wherein the elderly man was thrashed and forced to drink urine from a liquor bottle, went viral on Wednesday.
On March 5, a man from Raisen eloped with a woman from the Vidisha district to get married. A case was registered in the matter the following day. Then, on March 7, the woman’s family and relatives went to Raisen in two four-wheelers to ask about the whereabouts of her. They first asked the elderly man about the woman and his son, and assaulted him.
Later, under the pretext of searching for the girl, the accused forcibly took the 70-year-old man to a secluded location in their vehicles. At least 12 men were present, and they took him to Motipura village in Rajgarh district.
Upon finding no information about the couple, the family members forced the elderly man to drink urine from a liquor bottle, and then circulated the video online.
Earlier in the day, the man and his family went to the police station and filed a complaint against the accused.
After the video went viral, Rajgarh Police took cognisance of the matter and visited the man’s home to gather more information.
Two of the accused have been detained as per the man’s complaint. The police are in the process of lodging an FIR in the matter, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the remaining of the accused.
